I was born and raised in a modest family in Haiti, where values, faith, and hard work were the foundation of life. Guided by those principles, I pursued higher education at the State University of Haiti, earning two bachelor’s degrees in accounting and economics. For several years, I built a career in accounting and teaching, preparing young people for their future while developing my own professional skills. In March 2007, at the age of 32, I immigrated to the United States to join my fiancé, and shortly afterward we were married. That marked the beginning of a new chapter learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and working to rebuild my professional life from the ground up. My first job in America was at McDonald’s, where I flipped burgers, washed dishes, and cleaned. I stayed there for more than four years and worked in housekeeping and cleaning retail stores like Kohl’s. By the grace of God, I was able to balance work, school, and family responsibilities. In 2011, I graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and two years later, in 2013, I earned an associate degree in Math Secondary Education from the Community College of Philadelphia. Shortly after my graduation, I secured an accounting job but unfortunately was laid off within months due to financial constraints at the company. At around the same time, my own office could not yet fully support me. To provide for my family, I enrolled in a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program, became licensed quickly, and worked as a dedicated Nurse Assistant for several years. While working in healthcare, I continued to run my accounting office on the side, determined not to give up on my vision. I also put more focus on my education and professional development. To master the field of taxation, I studied diligently and successfully passed the required examinations to become an IRS Enrolled Agent, authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. In 2016, I finally secured a stable position in accounting, which allowed me to transition out of nursing assistance and return fully to my profession. This achievement also gave me the opportunity to pursue graduate studies. I enrolled at Holy Family University, where I earned my master’s degree in accounting, further strengthening my expertise and professional standing. After completing my master’s, I was hired by another firm while continuing to run my own practice part time. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I lost that job. Instead of viewing it as a setback, I embraced it as an opportunity. I made the decision to dedicate myself 100% to TRUFATS LLC, the company I had founded years earlier. Since then, I have been fully focused on building and growing my firm, serving individuals, families, and businesses with accounting, taxation, and financial services.
